Helping Improve Home Comfort and Efficiency
Tri-County Community Action Program’s Weatherization Services help income-eligible households reduce energy costs while improving the health, safety, and comfort of their homes. Through a professional home energy assessment, our team identifies areas where heat is being lost and recommends improvements that can make the home more efficient.
Not all homes require the same work. Each home is evaluated individually, and recommended improvements are based on what will provide the greatest benefit for the household.
Weatherization services are provided at no cost to eligible households.
What Weatherization Services May Include
Based on the results of the home energy assessment, improvements may include a variety of energy-saving measures designed to make the home safer, more comfortable, and more efficient.
These improvements may include:
• Air sealing and insulation improvements
• Weather-stripping around doors and windows
• Ventilation improvements to improve indoor air quality
• Minor repairs that support energy efficiency improvements
• Health and safety upgrades when needed
Improvements typically DO NOT include doors, windows, or roofs.
The goal of weatherization is to reduce energy loss, lower monthly utility costs, and help households maintain safe and comfortable living conditions throughout the year.
Heating Repair & Replacement Program (HRRP)
For homeowners with failing or unsafe heating systems, the Heating Repair & Replacement Program (HRRP) may provide assistance with emergency heating system repair or replacement.
An energy auditor must first assess the heating system to determine whether repair or replacement is appropriate. This program is designed to ensure that eligible households have safe and reliable heating during the winter months.
How Weatherization Services Work
Households interested in weatherization services must first complete a Fuel & Electric Assistance application and indicate that they are interested in Weatherization Services.
After eligibility is confirmed, an energy auditor will schedule a home visit to evaluate the property and identify potential improvements. Recommended work is then prioritized based on federal program guidelines.
Priority is often given to households with older adults, individuals with disabilities, or families with children under the age of six.
Getting Started
To apply for Weatherization Services, complete the Fuel & Electric Assistance application and be sure to select “Yes” for Weatherization Services.
If you need assistance completing the application or have questions about the program, our Energy Assistance Services team can help guide you through the process.
