Year-Round Shelters in Northern New Hampshire

Emergency Shelter Services

TCCAP offers two emergency homeless shelters to help adults and families who are unsheltered. They are located in Coös. However, people are accepted into shelter from all areas of the state.

Our shelters are open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Tyler Blain Shelter

The Tyler Blain Shelter (TBS) is a temporary emergency shelter for men and families with children. It is an ADA compliant home that can shelter up to 6 individuals and a family.

Ages Served: Men 18+ and families

Burch House Shelter

The Burch House Shelter (BHS) is a temporary emergency shelter for women and children. It can shelter up to 15 individuals.

Program Details

Area Served: Coös, Carroll, and Grafton Counties priority, statewide accepted

Income Guidelines: None

Program Cost: Free for individuals without an income, individuals with income are asked to contribute $50 per week (families $70).

Program Information:

  • Advanced referrals required for placement; unsheltered individuals must call shelter.
  • Must meet HUD’s definition of homeless.
  • Shelter guests must be able to live independently.
  • Must have clean background check and agree to follow shelter safety rules.
  • Shelter guests have access to an eat-in kitchen, a community food pantry, laundry facilities, and a common area.
  • On-site staff provide focused case management services to all shelter guests by developing individualized plans of action that address barriers to household self-sufficiency and finding permanent housing
